#43 Harry Ashton - Aching For You

Sydney based singer-songwriter Harry Ashton infuses a unique combination of jazz, blues and indie-soul in his new single, Aching For You. At only 19 years of age, Harry has already created a prolific and fascinating sound that is remarkably captivating. Aching For You is the follow-up to Harry Ashton’s debut EP, Messages to Never Send, which came out earlier this year.

Whilst Harry only has a handful of digital releases out there, he has been on the music scene for a while. At only the age of 15, Harry was a member of The New South Trio - a young indie blues band based in Australia. Alongside this band, Harry was the youngest act at Thredbo Blues Festival (3 years running!).

Lyrically we see Harry explore some personal heartbreak in his new single, Aching For You: “Don’t wanna be thinking' ‘about you”, “you’re on my mind, can’t cut loose” and “where did I go wrong? I never seemed to realise the damage”. Alongside the genuine lyricism, there is some gorgeous instrumental highlights throughout, closing with a dreamy saxophone solo which plays out the track perfectly.

Harry’s talent has not gone unnoticed. His new single was premiered on the prestigious Australian radio show, triple j. We were also lucky enough to have Harry take part on one of our Laid Bare Bunker Sessions a few weeks ago, check out the video here.
