#55 Odina - What I Never Told You

Originally from the Catalan region of Spain and now based in London, rising star Odina releases her bold debut album, What I Never Told You. With shimmering folk patterns and sophisticated hints of pop, What I Never Told You is a charming, cohesive record that showcases what is to come from Odina.

The effortlessly delicate nature of Odina’s vocals and atmospheric instrumentation could see her compared to the likes of Angel Olsen, Phoebe Bridgers and Angus & Julia Stone. Only being Odina’s first album release, the songwriter and multi-instrumentalist has already cemented her mature style of music.

Whilst sat listening to What I Never Told You start to finish, you experience a complete sense of honesty from Odina. Her pure vocals perfectly convey personal truths and feelings throughout. However the record is interpreted by each listener, I believe there is something for everyone with What I Never Told You - an open-armed and forthright record that naturally provokes a feeling of reflection and contemplation.

Favourite tracks on the record:

Heartache is a beautiful closer. Flowing between twangy-guitar patterns and reverbed orchestral horns, the warming production on Heartache accentuates Odina’s intense and emotional vocals. Perfectly delivering and summarising the feeling throughout the album.

Hey, Hey is a punchy, atmospheric number that sees Odina’s vocals cut deeper alongside rocky guitar and drum lines.

Many Things is a stunning guitar ballad that really showcases her echoey vocals. The song increasingly builds throughout, creating a diverse track that shows exactly what Odina has to offer.
