The world is beginning to open up slowly, but if there is one thing we have learned over the past year, it’s that online presence is very important. Here are some tips that will help you connect with your audience, albeit, virtually.

Host ‘Catch Ups’

We have noticed more people hosting virtual coffee mornings or live conversations where they discuss what they’re up to and maybe play a tune or two. These are more informal than gigs and a great way to connect with your audience pressure off.

Vlogging

Yes. Vlogging. The YouTube scene may look different than it did say, 5-10 years ago but it is still a really important tool. If you’re a little afraid of ‘going live’ then why not create a few short films that demonstrate what you have been up to. People love seeing behind the scenes.

Interview Other Creatives

It can be hard to hold the spotlight at all times so why not interview other creatives and find out what they do? This is a great way to connect with others from afar and keep building your community. This is also a great way to broaden your audience as their fans may come your way too.

Host a Skill Share Session or Masterclass

If you have something that others may benefit from, why not share it? Whether it be songwriting abilities, production knowledge, marketing or even just being able to play an instrument. People will value it and be grateful.

Show Your Process

People love to get to know the person behind the art and this doesn’t have to be as much of an undertaking as say, vlogging; by posting short clips of you talking to the camera about your process, people will begin to feel like they know who you are. If you aren’t comfortable with this, you could start by sharing your lyrics, chords, techniques, or anything else that lets your audience be a part of the process.
