#274 - Making Social Media As A Musician Less Overwhelming

  1. Content Pillars

We encourage artists to use content pillars, especially for TikTok where consistency is more vital. For example, once a week you post a live clip, once week a cover of an artist who inspires your music, once a week content on an external hobby/passion to grab interest from other angles and show personality, and then twice a week promoting your original music. Structure makes life easier!

  2. Content Days

Once you have established your content pillars its great to film in bulk! For example doing a covers day, 4 covers filmed is 4 weeks content! We also offer content filming days for the original song promotion where in in 2, 4 and 8 hour filming days you can get up to 3 whole months of content in just one day!

  3. Working ahead

Banking content for a month prior to the release of a single or EP/Album is key to always being a month ahead. That way, if you have a down week and need to take time to yourself you can afford to take time of without it hindering your project’s success. It’s only fair as any other job with paid leave allows it! Musicians need a break too!

  4. Authentic Content

Seeing all the trends on social media and feeling like you are never up to date can be overwhelming. Only take part in a trend if it matches your idealised brand or it’s authentic to your style of content! An audience can tell when you are creating work you don’t enjoy, authenticity shines through far more, so no need to jump on every trend.

  5. Branding Consistency

Make a pinterest board of the brand you want for your artist image and save it as your laptop or phone lockscreen. Cross reference every piece of content with this imagery and you should then be proud of and cohesive with each video you create! Stay consistent with a font too, to have less time choosing on editing and to keep consistency.
