#103 Faultress - Illusions

Faultress has released captivating new track Illusions, the first teaser from her forthcoming debut album Nocturnes set to be released in October this year. Faultress takes inspiration from Kate Bush, Boards of Canada and James Blake, creating a unique musical experience strengthened by her emotionally dynamic vocal performance. Illusions opens with a catchy synth riff that underpins the tracks minimal tone, complimented by scenic soundscapes of the coast. This alt-pop piece fast reveals itself as a ruse for a deeper yearning undercurrent of a heart wrestling with existential angst, supported by Faultress’s magnificent left field feminine style of electronica. The track captures human vulnerability as centre stage, with the electronic sound effects designing an eerie yet theatrical landscape.

Illusions sets an exciting precedent for Nocturnes, which will reveal more of Faultress’s incredible skillset, exhibiting her talents as a lyricist, musician, singer and storyteller. An ode to her name ‘Faultress’, an extinct word for a female criminal, this musical project roots itself at the heart of her unpolished faults and imperfections. Applying her flawless creativity, the sound Faultress exudes in Illusions is haunting, yet one of uplifting beauty. We can’t wait to hear what she has to bring in Nocturnes.

Illusions is available on Spotify and all streaming platforms, check it out below.
