#65 Hope Tala - Crazy
West Londoner, Hope Tala, returns with her fun new single Crazy, another exciting taste of what’s to come on her upcoming EP Girl Eats Sun, set to be released October 30th on Republic Records. Having previously featured in the likes of Rolling Stone, Notion, Miss Vogue and BBC Radio 1Xtra we couldn’t wait for Hope’s latest teaser. The release of Crazy was no disappointment and has already been picked up by Clash Magazine and MTV News.
Her unique neo-soul sound is perfected with a combination of R&B and Latin influences. Taking pop inspiration from the likes of J.Lo, Snoop Dog and Justin Timberlake, this is the perfect single to get us through the end of this ‘Crazy’ year.
“‘Crazy’ is a fun love song; the type of song I think we all need in these depressing times. The lyric of the chorus has a double meaning - it’s about telling someone they can go crazy and have a good time on the dancefloor, but also that you can tell that they like you and it’s all good because the feelings are reciprocated - they don’t need to hold back, they can go ‘Crazy.’” – Hope Tala
Amidst an inconceivably conflicting time for the arts, Hope stands as a shining example for us all; living proof that you should never give up on what you love. As an academic, Hope achieved a First-Class Honours in English Literature from Bristol University, she had been offered a place at the prestigious Cambridge University to study her masters. Fearlessly, she turned it down and chose to pursue an uncertain career in music – and what an amazing decision that was. Hers is a story we should all look to in this time. Don’t “Rethink, Reskill and Reboot”, do what you love even if others think there are more ‘important’ paths.
Crazy is available on Spotify and all streaming platforms so check it out below!
