This week we feature an artist who you may have already spotted on our socials - IZZA. She has finally released her debut single Lows, magnificently showcasing her unique new dark-soul sound. Another example of an artist to defy this challenging year, her new track is completely uplifting with its poppy style carrying instantaneous light into a dark world. Lows was produced by MPA Awards ‘Best Newcomer’ Amy McKnight and has already been picked up by Grammy Award Nominee Kelli-Leigh made lows the new edition to her popular Spotify playlist ‘Independent Artists Only’.

Under such arduous and unsettling circumstances, Lows evokes a powerful sentiment, emphasising a much-needed message of positivity. The track chronicles the ups and downs of dealing with anxiety and depression in a world where people are obsessed with the perceived perfection of their online selves.

‘Lows came about when Amy and I were in the studio in Shepherds Bush together. I had a dark couple of days before that. I was anxious and not sure if I was on the right path. I wanted to write something that would pick me up. And it did.’ - IZZA

IZZA grew up around music as an integral part of her family dynamic and honed her craft taking inspiration from a diverse range of artists such as Bill Withers, Amy Winehouse and Disclosure. Her hard work and undeniable talent soon lead to studio time alongside Grammy award winning producer Matt Lawrence and double Ivor Novello winner Iain Archer.

In an interview with LOCK Magazine, IZZA opened up about the difficulties in producing the release due to COVID restrictions. Thankfully, she overcame the complications, creating an upbeat and funky single that is the perfect antidote for when you’re feeling ‘Lows‘.

‘Lows sends a message that it’s OK to have your demons. You can learn to live with them. Invite them to a party and make them dance!’
