#157 Lorne - Bow Out

In this week’s artist blog feature, we’re delighted to introduce you to London-based artist, Lorne, and his latest single, Bow Out. With past releases garnering the attention of lauded industry platforms - BBC Introducing, Clash and Music Week -, and performances at The Troubadour and Notting Hill Arts Club under his belt, Lorne is certainly an artist to keep tabs on.

It was through listening to Peter Gabriel in his teens, that Lorne first began to discover his own sound - an influence that is still reflected in his current output. Alongside Gabriel, he also traces the influences of established songwriters and bands such as Damien Rice, Coldplay and Elbow, finding himself continually drawn to melodic pop and ambient rock - sounds we see emerging in his latest release.

Lorne’s new single, showcasing his classical piano training, carries the listener from pared-back acoustic ambience to a percussive, melodic climax - an exciting progression that continues to rise up over the duration of the track, punctuated by the artist’s heartfelt lyrics which trace the end of a friendship. “In the lyrics,” holds Lorne, “I looked for ways to describe the need for space and a way out of a difficult situation”.
