#153 Malin Andersson - Reef

In this week’s artist blog feature, we’re delighted to be zoning in on the very talented Malin Andersson and her latest single release, Reef.

Through this track, the Swedish-born, London-based singer-songwriter asks how we can find our way back to living in harmony with nature and, in turn, find peace within ourselves. The lyrics explore the experience of travelling through the emotions that come with leaving a place of tranquillity, and entering the hustle and bustle of London:

How can I remain - nothing's the same out here

How can we unfold - to be something worthier

How could I explain - nothing's the same to me you see

how can this unfold - it's not what it ought to be

not what it ought to be

Caught on a reef

Caught by the reef

Written by Malin and produced in collaboration with Anders Rane, the track features the singer’s enchanting vocals, paired with a tidal soundscape of elegant folk-infused guitar, and a delicate string accompaniment. With previous releases capturing the attention of SKAP (the Swedish Society for Songwriters Composers and Authors), leading Malin to be represented by the organisation - this upcoming series of releases from the artist is set to capture even more critical attention.

Reef is the first single from Malin’s second upcoming album, Space to Feel, for which we can expect a string of singles ahead of its release. Watch this space…
