#72 Dawn Coulshed - Sing For Us

Sing for Us is the latest release by one of our own; the fantastic Dawn Coulshed, and a follow up to her beautiful single Fall Back. Her powerful, yet delicate vocal creates real imagery whilst maintaining a sense of fragility in the lyrics. Dawn describes her inspiration for this song: “a shy kid, I had to be nudged into singing publicly. Looking back on the musical journey I’ve had since then, I realised the real magic moments are when you share music with other people, even if that’s just singing with your friends in the car.”

Dawn is influenced by the traditional music of her Scottish roots and her classical studies as a pianist. She is an ever evolving singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. There is a sensitivity in Dawn’s instrumental playing that draws the listener in as her lyrics reveal honest, human stories. This is so true in Sing for Us, as an anthem folk song it is heavily relatable for anyone that may not believe in their talents, whatever they may be. This song promotes confidence and self-belief to aspiring creatives that need a little push to do what they are so good at.

This new stripped back folk single is an impressive show of what can be achieved with a piano and a beautiful voice, drawing on very relatable and authentic emotions. Quite simply put, this is a stunning release that we at Laid Bare are proud to be associated with, with Dawn a part of our musical family!
