#28 Nathan Ball - Borders
London based singer-songwriter Nathan Ball continues to release music that follows his honest and emotive style of writing. The delicacy of Borders is not only reflected in lyrics such as “tell me I’m invisible” and “I feel so lost in my head”, but also in the vulnerability of Nathan’s voice and the songs atmospheric sonic landscape. Gentle guitar fingerpicking and increasing cinematic strings build perfectly, leading to a powerful and passionate chorus.
Borders appears to be reflecting on the difficulties of someone not opening up and the distance that this creates between each other; “putting your borders up, is putting my borders up”. An honest depiction of someone not allowing themselves to be vulnerable and honest, and how this inevitably can push someone away.
Nathan’s success has not gone unnoticed. He recently supported singer-songwriter Jeremy Loops at the O2 Brixton Academy, alongside Australian indie-folk trio Sons of the East.
