#29 NIGHT FLIGHT - David

Following their brilliant self-titled debut album last year, Night Flight have emerged again with new singles Mexico and White Noise. Their most recent addition, David, continues to demonstrate their timeless ability to write compelling and emphatic indie folk tracks.

Listening to their new single, there is a sense of vulnerability that falls with it. Alongside romantically charged melodies and laid-back guitar strumming, frontman Sam Holmes’ delicate vocals allow the listener to be immersed in the track both lyrically and instrumentally, making his words entirely believable.

Undauntingly, David bares all lyrically repeating lines such as “You’re doing better than I thought, without me” and “Maybe now it’s finally over”. His echoey vocals perfectly confirm that he is letting go. I particularly like how these lyrics build and become even more believable towards the end of the track - a musical progression that suggests it has taken time for this feeling of loss to resonate with the frontman.
