#35 JFDR - Shimmer

Icelandic musician Jófríður Ákadóttir, known as JFDR, is set to release her second album New Dreams on 13 March. JFDR has been sharing new music in the lead up to her album, with the title track and Taking A Part Of Me being released over the past couple months. Most recently, the singer-songwriter has presented us with her newest single, Shimmer. An atmospheric, delicate track that sees Ákadóttir’s voice echo beautifully above tender guitar playing throughout.

Shimmer appears to be drawing attention to the feeling of confusion and the quest for understanding. Ákadóttir’s whispery vocals express “The string we’ve tied, we don’t understand. We’ve tried and we failed at it, again and again”. A soft musical atmosphere that perfectly accompanies the imagery created by JFDR’s lyricism.

New Dreams is out 3 March, pre-order it here.

JFDR is set to play London’s Rich Mix on 7 May. Tickets can be found here.
