#33 Thea - TwentyTwo

Back with her first single of the year, singer-songwriter Thea provides a pure and smooth instalment with TwentyTwo.

Thea’s new single displays a stripped approach that gives an emotive feeling, enabling her smooth, yet powerful vocals to shine through. TwentyTwo begins with delicate and echoing effects on Thea’s vocals, perfectly setting the tone for the rest of the song. The stripped back feel draws focus to the lyricism, which definitely stirs up some emotions.

Lyrics such as “I heard you’ll cry but you’ll hear mine too, after all, we’re only kids and this feeling is so new” implies that Thea is offering reassurance to a loved one. It brings attention to the complications and overwhelming feelings of fear that coincide with being young.

Many will also know Thea for her collaborations with Rex Orange County, on tracks such as Never Had The Balls and Sycamore Girl. Her solo career is equally as impressive.

Hopefully TwentyTwo is the beginning of lots of music from Thea this year.
